After taking a break after Laut Aao Trisha ended abruptly, Nalini Negi is back in Doli Armaano Ki, which has just taken a time leap. “I am having a superb time and I have enjoyed my short stint in TV,” says the actress, adding, “But it is tough to exist in this competitive industry, it’s survival of the fittest.” Talking about being signed up for Doli…, she says, “I feel I am blessed to have got this offer so soon. In my earlier show too I played a 18 -19-year-old girl and here too I am playing a character of a similar age.”
About her role, she adds, “It cannot be seen as a negative character. I have a lot of differences with my mom. This character will showcase a different side of mine. The conflict between me and my mom and the arguments between us will bring in the thrill element and will keep the audiences on the edge.” Her earlier show Laut Aao Trisha had ended abruptly. “Everything had gone topsy turvy in that show with the actors quitting halfway for whatever reasons,” she says. “After the show went off air, I just chilled for two-three months; I went to Delhi and enjoyed life with my parents, relatives and friends. The break was refreshing and very essential for rejuvenating myself.”
Talking about her single status, she says, “I do not have anyone special. Nonetheless I have had my share of relationships. We separated mutually in the last one. To make any relationship work one needs to be on the same wavelength. We thought that continuing the relationship just for the heck of it would not work, thus we both moved on in life. He was from the industry but I do not want to discuss him.” Coming back to her character in the show, Nalini, adds, “There are five characters in the show who are equally important. I was given a brief that I would have to play Urmi’s daughter, Ishani.
“After the death of Ishani’s dad, she feels that her mother is a murderer who is responsible for her father’s death… There is a lot of drama between Ishani and Urmi. In spite of Urmi trying to come close to her daughter, Ishani is not ready to forgive her.” She adds, “My character is not rebellious, but due to a wrong notion, she is always behaving rudely with her mother. But it cannot be stamped as a negative role… Things will change at some point as the mother is trying her best to make her daughter realise that she has not murdered her father. So you need to wait and watch.”
“In real life I love both my parents a lot. The best aspect of our life is that we hail from a small town in Himachal Pradesh. We are from a conservative atmosphere, yet my parents are open-minded,” she says, adding, “Without their support I would have never been here.”
