I am content doing movies down south: Poonam Bajwa

Actress is quite confident that she can carry out a diverse range of looks in Kollywood

Poonam Bajwa, who made a recent appearance in Romeo Juliet after a brief hiatus, wants to do more films in Tamil. The actress, who’s also a part of Aranmanai 2, says she had a gala time shooting for it. So, is she playing a ghost in the film? Poonam laughs and says, “I can’t tell you anything about my role. All I can say is that, it’s quite substantial.

Shooting for the film was like a family outing. We had so much fun that I didn’t get to know when Sundar C was actually directing the film. Somehow, he did it,” she tells us and adds that she wouldn’t be seen romancing anyone in it.The actress says she doesn’t like it when people see her recent role as a comeback vehicle.

“I was never away from cinema. I wasn’t getting interesting offers in Kolly, but I was doing films in other languages. An actor must be prepared all the time to transcend boundaries of language. I enjoy a lot working in Telugu films,” she says. So, what was she upto during her break? “I love travelling and that’s what I was doing over the last few years. In the future, I would like to travel across the world,” she says.

Though she has been seen in half-sari clad village belle roles, Poonam is quite confident that she can carry out a diverse range of looks now in Kollywood.“I would prefer to play glamorous characters with a western look and feel, but nothing vulgar. I have learnt that to make your presence felt in the industry, you should capture the attention of the audience and stay on their minds,” she says.

Poonam adds she she wants to focus totally on her career down south. “I am content with doing south Indian movies. They are much more than just running around trees. But, I choose to live life with an open mind and grab any opportunity that is worth taking up,” she signs off.
