Dr Reddy’s finally gets rebranded

On Wednesday it rebranded itself by launching its new visual identity and brand
Hyderabad: Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, the second largest drug maker by sales, on Wednesday rebranded itself by launching its new visual identity and brand — two years after the death of its founder Anji Reddy.
According to a statement issued by the company, the objective of the rebranding exercise is to derive a unifying, patient–centric approach, to meet new and daunting challenges that patients are facing.
The company has choosen purple as its corporate colour as against its earlier orange. It has discarded the old corporate logo, which used to have a symbol resembling Dr — the first word of its name and also an abbreviation of Dr Reddy (as late Anji Reddy was called).
This newspaper had reported about the company’s plans to rebrand itself on July 4, 2014. However, the company had denied any such plans. Though initially DRL wanted to launch its new brand during its 30th ann-iversary in February 2015, the management deferred it and announced it on Wednesday. The rebranding is said to be aimed at positioning DRL as a global generic player, with greater research focus.
