Two die as lorry overturns in West Godavari

Under the impact lorry driver is trapped in cabin
Rajahmundry: Two men were killed and three sustained injuries when a multi-axle lorry rammed into an elevated median of the road at high speed near a railway gate and broke into three pieces at Bhimadole in West Godavari on Tuesday.
According to Bhimadole SI B. Venkateswara Rao, the container lorry was proceeding from Tiruchur to Bihar carrying the BHEL cables and other materials. As it reached near railway gate, the driver lost his control on the vehicle as he probably fell asleep for a while, hit the road.
Under the impact, two men were killed on the spot at the bus stand. One was identified as Lakshman from Bhimadole and efforts are on to establish the identity of another deceased. The lorry also rammed into a small hotel causing injuries to aged couple who run it.
The driver identified as Venkatesan Krishnamurthy hailing from Tamil Nadu, was trapped in the cabin as it got squeezed. The police had to struggle for some time to rescue him. All the three injured were shifted to government hospital at Eluru for medical treatment. Police booked a case.
