Nine trapped in unlicensed coal mine in China

Workers broke in a coal mine without prior permission when the accident occured

Beijing: Nine persons have been trapped inside an unlicensed coal mine when they broke into it without permission in China's eastern Fujian Province.

Twelve workers broke into an abandoned and unlicensed coal mine in Wendong village in Yongding district without permission on Saturday.

Three of them came out of the mine and called the police for help after the rest of their fellow workers failed to emerge from the mine.

The cause of the accident is unclear, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
