Girl dies of dengue at Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital

13 persons admitted to CMCH in last couple of days for high fever
Coimbatore: A 7-year-old girl died of dengue at Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) here on Friday.
Buvaneshwari from Karumathampatti was admitted in CMCH on Wednesday and she died without responding to treatment. As there is a spurt in number of fever and dengue cases following the onset of the monsoon, a separate ward has been set up at the CMCH to treat the patients.
“In the last couple of days, 13 persons were admitted to CMCH for dengue. Of them, five were discharged, the girl died and seven others including two children and five adults are undergoing treatment at the hospital,” said CMCH Dean A Edwin Joe.
The incidents of fever and dengue have gone up due to the chill weather following continuous rains that have been pounding Coimbatore district.
