Kerala: Digital lockers to preserve government documents

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala State IT Mission has launched a digital locker facility enabling anyone having an Aadhaar number to preserve the copies of government records in the cyber space.
The enrolment for the facility, introduced as part of the e-district project, began at district collectorates, Akshaya centres and selected educational institutions on Wednesday. Registration can also be done at https://www.digitallocker.gov.in/.
Self-attested copies of certificates and government documents can be stored in the digital locker. Only the Aadhaar number has to be quoted while submitting applications to governmental agencies later.
The officials concerned can retrieve the copy of the document from the digital locker, said Kerala State IT Mission director Mohammed Y. Safirullah. Assistant mission coordinator Hanif Mohammed said that initially 10 mb space would be allowed to each individual and it would be scaled up in the long run. The facility, which is free, has already been rolled out in some other states.
