Industrialists face K. Chandrasekhar Rao test

CM to ‘interview’ investors who wish to set up mega industries in TS

Hyderabad: Investors coming to Telangana to set up mega industries worth over Rs 200 crore have to first clear the “personal interview” to be conducted by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and chief secretary Rajiv Sharma at the Secretariat to get land and other incentives.

This is to assess the “genuineness” of applicants before allotting land. The TS government has learnt from mistakes by governments in undivided AP in this regard.

Thousands of acres allotted to industries by governments in the past are either lying unused, stuck in legal disputes or are mortgaged to banks by managements to secure loans. The state took precautions to check this misuse of land in its newly announced industrial approval policy “TS-iPASS”.

The state has decided to hold a ‘personal interview’ which will be conducted by the CM and CS for those who apply for mega industries, for which huge amount of land and other incentives are required. In the new system investors wanting to set up a mega industry should apply online. The industries department officials will contact them and ask them to come to Hyderabad on a particular date with all documents/ reports. The government will depute an escort officer who will receive the investor at the airport and drive him straight to the Secretariat.

After scrutiny of these papers in a week, if they are satisfied, the chasing cell officials would themselves obtain all the approvals from various departments for setting up industry and the investors will be intimated to attend for a personal interview with the CM or CS. If the CM and CS are satisfied with their interview, they themselves will hand over all the approvals on the spot, including land and incentives. All this will be done within 15 days.

Industries minister, Jupally Krishna Rao said, “The entire process has been designed only to ensure that the benefits reach only genuine investors and projects start early.”

Telangana approves 17 firms by single window

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao will handover approval letters to the investors of 17 companies to start operations in Telangana at Secretariat on Tuesday. These 17 applications to set up industries have been processed and cleared by TS government through a single window online approval system within two weeks as mandated in the new TS industrial policy.

These 17 companies together account for an investment of Rs. 1500 crores and likely to provide employment to 4000 people.

The officers concerned in the industries department and chasing cell in CMO have processed and cleared these applications of 17 companies in record speed and time. These 17 companies include ITC among others.
