Shaam plays an anti hero in OMK

OMK is inspired by a real life scandalous murder in which a central minster was involved

Shaam is on a high after his upright cop in Purampokku under national award winner Jananathan’s direction won rave reviews and accolades. Without a godfather to guide him in the industry, Shaam has still completed 25 films, and is raring to go.

“Purampokku is a milestone for me. I have taken a new avatar, and the film has given me a newfangled identity,” Shaam says. The actor has made mistakes in the past with choosing a few lackluster scripts, and is now being doubly careful.

His next film is a bilingual in Tamil and Kannada, titled Oru Mellia Kodu (in Tamil) and directed by AMR Ramesh. The actor says, “I was floored by the way Ramesh narrated the script, his screenplay was spectacular, and so I agreed immediately.” Ramesh is one filmmaker known for films based on sensational real life incidents. Although Shaam is tightlipped about the story, he did reveal that his role has grey shades.

Sources say that OMK is inspired by a real life scandalous murder in which a central minster was also involved. Manisha Koirala, who makes a comeback after a long gap, essays the central character around whom the story revolves, and is paired with Shaam. “I am happy to share the screen with Arjun sir. I also have yet another pair Shruti Hariharan in this crime thriller. Ilaiyaraaja sir’s music will be a high point and the songs will be filmed in Turkey,” the 12 B actor reveals.
