Congress raises non-issue on Sushma Swaraj: Minister Prakash Javadekar

The opposition party’s attempt only showed that it is completely bankrupt of ideas
Chennai: Accusing Congress of using a “non-issue” to target external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj in the Lalit Modi travel document row, Union Minister of State for Environment, Forests and Climate Change, Prakash Javadekar, on Tuesday said the opposition party’s attempt only showed that it is “completely bankrupt of ideas.”
Lashing out at the Congress over raking the issue, he said the opposition party has “lost the plot and is frustrated because people of the country have reposed their faith in the Modi Gover-nment and as Congress could not digest this it was leveling baseless charges, ” he told reporters here adding that even its leaders had been spotted with Lalit Modi.
“After Sushmaji’s clarification there is no issue at all,” Mr Javadekar said. Referring to Congress releasing photos of Lalit Modi, facing charges of misappropriation of funds in IPL and currently staying in London, with Ms Swaraj besides Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP chief Amit Shah, Mr Javadekar claimed the picture was five years old. It was taken when Mr Modi was Gujarat Chief Minister and also the head of the State cricket association with Amit Shah being his deputy on the board.
Lalit Modi was IPL chairman then and did not face any allegations. There were pictures of Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Vice President Rahul Gandhi with practically all the accused in the Coal scam, 2G scam or the Commonwealth Games scam. “What has the Congress to say about this?” he asked.
