ADRC no rival to judiciary: Madras High Court judge

The ADRC is aimed at speedy and less expensive solution

Perambalur: Meanwhile, an ‘Alternative dispute resolution centre (ADRC) was inaugurated in Perambalur district also on Sunday, by Mr Justice Satish K Agnihotri of the Madras high court. Speaking on the occasion, the judge was all praise for the Perambalur district administration for successfully preventing 368 child marriages since 2011.

Justice Agnihotri said the ADRC should become a resolution centre for all types of disputes, whether inside or outside the courts. In his address, Mr Justice K Devadas, judge of the Madras high court and portfolio judge for Perambalur District, clarified that the ADRC was not a rival forum to the Judiciary. The ADRC is aimed at speedy and less expensive solution for the disputes besides ensuring equal access to justice to both the poor and the rich.

Justice Devadas also called upon the advocates to play a key role in the ADRC’s functioning and ensure its success. Others who participated in the function included Mr. T.N. Nanda Kumar, Principal district and sessions judge, Seetharaman, Member-secretary, Madhusudhanan Reddy, District collector, In-charge Sonal Chandra, Superintendent of police, Sanjivee Rajan, president, Advocates associ tion and Mr. E.Valluvan Nambi, president, Bar association.
