Rains wash away dry River Godavari worries

State government is planning to release water from the Sriramsagar project

Adilabad: Heavy rains in the north Telangana districts over the past two days have brought cheers to lakhs of pilgrims as the River Godavari is gradually receiving water. It is believed that there will be sufficient water in the river by the time of the Pushkaralu commences on July 14.

As a precautionary measure, the Telangana state government had requested the Maharashtra government to release water from the projects upstream of the river, in case there is insufficient water in the Godavari when the Pushkaralu begins.

The state government is also planning to release water from the Sriramsagar project. It is said that the Pushkar ghats being constructed at various places will get natural curing with the rains and there is no need of taking water from outside for the purpose.
