Andhra Pradesh bus mishap: Astrologers blame date, day

Astrologers say, was the date, the 13th, and day a Saturday, both considered inauspicious
Hyderabad: Saturday witnessed a spate of road accidents in different parts of the country resulting in loss of several lives, including 22 members of a family in Rajahmundry. While a variety of factors contributed to the accidents, some astrologers say it may have been caused by the zodiac stars on that day and the Atiganda Yoga prevailing from 1.48 am.
Other factors, astrologers say, was the date, the 13th, and day a Saturday, both considered inauspicious.
“Atiganda yoga, which is considered malefic, was in force on Saturday since morning. Adding to this was the Bharani nakshatra for the day. Bharani is presided over by Lord Yama. The combination of these two adding to the day and date may have had an influence. Saturn also represents long distance travel which can be linked to accidents,” said prominent astrologer J.U.B. Sastry.
He added that these factors do signify death but not for everyone. “There are factors connected to persons, so we must see their astrological charts,” the astrologer said. Another prominent astrologer, Dr Sankaramanchi Ramakrishna Sastry, said it being Dwadasi according to the Hindu calendar and the day being Saturday was bad.
But he said it couldn’t directly be linked to the accidents. “These are in force for every place on the planet. We can’t link them to accidents,” he said.
“It is mostly human error that resulted in the accidents. And it is very unfortunate that 22 people died while they were returning from a pilgrimage,” Dr Sastry added.
