New Chrome makes m-browsing faster

Google is planning to launch a faster and lighter web browsing only for Android mobile

Hyderabad: To cash in on the growing usage of smartphones in India and slow Internet connection, Google is planning to launch a faster and lighter web browsing only for Android mobile users in India. This new feature will not only help people save data but will also load webpages faster even on a 2G connection. The new feature was launched in Indonesia last month and will be made available in India and Brazil in the next two weeks.

Announcing the same on their blog, the search engine giant said, “If you’re in India, with an Android phone and on a slow connection, like 2G, you should start to see pages loading a whole lot faster, while using far less data, via your Chrome or Android browser from Google’s search results.”

The blog also claims that the field test version of this feature in Indonesia had seen see pages load four times faster, use 80 per cent less data and also result in 50 per cent more page views. The Google blog also added that, “even if each of the Indian smartphone users spend just one extra second a day waiting for a page to load, that adds up to more than two and a half years of people waiting, every day”.
