CM assured proper rehabilitation for those people affected by the project

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Thursday laid the foundation stone for the Palamuru-Ranga Reddy Lift Irrigation Scheme, the first major irrigation project conceived by the TRS government after coming to power.

Being taken up at a cost of Rs 35,200 crore, the scheme will utilise over 90 TMC ft of Krishna water drawn from Srisailam foreshore, lifted at four places to facilitate irrigation to more than 10 lakh acre in Mahbubnagar, Ranga Reddy and Nalgonda districts.

While laying the foundation stone at Karivena village in Bhoothpur mandal of Mahbubnagar district on Thursday morning, the CM assured that those ousted under the project would be rehabilitated properly, including construction of a double bedroom house for each family. He also assured one job to each of the ousted families. Mr Rao added that the government will not complete the project without first attending to the issues of the ousted.

The CM instructed local TRS MLA Alla Venkateswara Reddy to build a guesthouse at the project site and announced that he will personally supervise the works every 15 days. He also said that 70 per cent of the Palamuru Lift scheme works will be completed within three years.
