The actor, died after being hospitalised for respiratory problems and heart failure
Mumbai: Sir Christopher Lee passed away on Sunday morning at Westminster Hospital in London, after being hospitalised for respiratory problems and heart failure. He was 93.
According to The Guardian, the decision to release the news four days after his demise, was based on his wife’s desire to inform family members first. The couple had been married for over 50 years.
The veteran Hollywood actor, was best known for his role as Count Dracula in a series of classic films produced by Hammer Horror, the 'Star Wars' prequels and of late, his role as the evil wizard Saruman, in the Lord of the Rings franchise.
At the age of 92, Lee became the oldest heavy metal artist ever, when he launched his first Christmas album that featured a song 'Darkest Carols, Faithful Sing,' that was a playful version of the holiday classic 'Hark! The Heralds Angels Sing'.
He said that he tries to keep active by doing the things that he "truly enjoys," and since he didn't know how long he was going to be around, he treats every day as a celebration.
Lee still has one film yet to be released, the fantasy film ‘Angels in Notting Hill’. He was also set to star in a 9/11 drama ‘The 11th’ opposite Uma Thurman, however they hadn’t started production on the film.
