Rescuers died in Mumbai fire

Residents from top floors came down to the 14th floor to rescue the insiders

Mumbai: It was an explosion in the air-conditioner that caused the major fire at the high-rise at Powai, which killed seven people and injured 18 others. It has appeared that majority of the casualties were the ones who tried to rescue residents trapped inside the building.

A fire broke out in the 21-storey Lake Lucerne building of Lake Homes complex in Chandivali on Saturday evening. Among the deceased, two were residents. Two were electricians, who had come to the building to repair the damaged AC. A driver and the security guard of the building also died.

According to the fire officials, the deceased were rescuing those inside and in the process, they got stuck inside. Residents from top floors came down to the 14th floor to rescue the insiders.
