Delay in Eamcet counselling in Telangana

Last date for granting or refusing approval was May 15

Hyderabad: The Telangana state government is racing against time to begin counselling for the TS Eamcet this year.

The counselling process can’t begin until inspections of the 288 engineering colleges are completed by JNTU Hyderabad. But the state has already missed one Supreme Court deadline regarding granting or refusing approval. As per the apex court schedule, the last date for granting or refusing approval by the university or state was May 15.

Meanwhile, the officials say that the inspections can take two more weeks, only after which can counselling begin. The TS government will be under pressure to complete the first round of counselling by June 30 and the last round before July 31, as per the schedule given by the SC.

While the AP government has announced counselling for AP Eamcet from June 12, there is no word from the TS government as yet. Number of seats available for students has to be announced before the counselling begins.

With the JNTU-H officials saying that they will only complete the process of granting and refusal of approvals in about two weeks, the government will have about a 10-day window to prepare for and complete the first round of counselling.
