Hyderabad: The arrested Telugu Desam MLA, A. Revanth Reddy, an accused in the multi crore ‘cash for vote’ scam, was shifted to Chanchalguda jail on 14 days judicial remand after he was produced in the ACB special court on Monday.
The source of the Rs 50 lakh will now be the key part of the investigation, ACB said. I-phones were used to record the transaction.
Revanth Reddy was shifted to jail after exercising his vote in the MLC polls as the court allowed him to vote based on the petition filed by the defence advocate.
Forty-six-year-old Revanth Reddy is now lodged in the high security barrack of Chanchalaguda jail after jail officials were informed about the security threat to the MLA.
Revanth Reddy is remand prisoner (under trial) number 1779. Two other arrested accused, Bishop Harry Sebastian, 53, a pastor at Yerragadda and Rudra Uday Simha, 33, of Nagole were also shifted to Chanchalaguda jail.
Chanchalaguda jail superintendent B. Saidaiah said, “The MLA was brought here around noon. We have written a letter to the court stating that usually ACB cases accused are remanded to Cherlapally jail and CBI cases accused to us. The MLA was medically examined by jail doctors.”
MLAs are treated like ordinary prisoners as far as facilities are concerned but put in high security barracks. In the remand diary the ACB alleged MLA Revanth Reddy and Bishop Harry came in a Scorpio and went to the flat and a few minutes later the other accused Uday Simha came to the flat in his Hyundai Verna with the cash bag. After the negotiations the bribe was placed on the teapoy as advance.
The three have applied for bail. Revanth’s counsel K. Ravindra Kumar said the bail is posted for hearing on Tuesday morning.
