Tamil Nadu BJP to cash in on Modi@365 during polls

Party has planned a public meeting to mark the achievements of one-year rule

Chennai: The saffron party here is euphoric over the performance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi government in its first year in office. A year ago, the Chennaiyil Narendra Modi rally drew milling crowds and now the BJP’s Tamil Nadu unit sees fairly good scope to invoke his name and garner votes during the state Assembly poll next year. This time the party is keen on capitalising Mr Modi’s one-year report card and derive political mileage. “This will be among the issues that would be highlighted when the state goes to polls. We will not be complacent…. already the booth level team is in place and we will work with renewed vigor to enter the Assembly in good numbers,” says a senior BJP leader.

“Good governance and stabilising the prices are the two major achievements of the Centre. Along with the Congress, Mr Modi has thrown out corruption and scams,” says senior leader C.P. Radhakrishnan.“For the first time after the 10-year corrupt and inefficient rule of the UPA, Modiji is delivering a clean administration,” BJP national secretary H. Raja who offered prayers at the ancient Sri Amrithakadeshwar temple in Thirukadaiyur, in the state, said.

Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan, state president, taking a dig at critics questioning his frequent foreign visits, said such trips were aimed at attracting huge investments for India. The party has planned a public meeting to mark the achievements of one-year rule of Mr Modi at R K Nagar area on May 28. Distribution of sweets and bursting of crackers marked the completion of one year in office of the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre. A photo exhibition depicting the one year achievements of Modi Government was also organised to mark the occasion.
