Delhi CM Kejriwal votes out Central order, calls it ‘unconstitutional’

Notification said L-G had final say in all matters pertaining to services, land & law in NCR

New Delhi: The Delhi Assembly on Tuesday adopted a motion that declared the May 21 Union home ministry notification “unconstitutional”, with the AAP government accusing the Centre of encroaching on the rights of the Delhi Assembly.

The notification said the Lieutenant-Governor had the final say in all matters pertaining to services, land, law and order in the National Capital Region of Delhi. The first day of the two-day “emergency” Assembly session called by the AAP government amid the backdrop of a bitter turf war between Lieutenant-Governor Najeeb Jung and Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was mired with the prolific use of “unparliamentary” language by MLAs.

Finally a ruckus erupted in the middle of the session after which BJP legislator O.P. Sharma was thrown out of the House by Assembly marshals. Moving the resolution, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said the notification was an encroachment on the rights of the Delhi Assembly.
