Ajith’s film to hit screens on Diwali: AM Rathnam

AM Rathnam is happy with the way movie Thala 56 is shaping up

Good news for the fans of Ajith! AM Rathnam, who is producing the actor’s third consecutive film, seemed happy with the way his current venture, tentatively titled Thala 56, is shaping up. The veteran producer tells DC that the film, directed by ‘Siruthai’ Siva, will be a Diwali treat for Ajith’s numerous fans. “It is an out-and-out commercial film. The shoot is progressing fast, and since Ajith sir’s film titles have tremendous value, we will be careful about what we choose before we announce it.

” He adds, “One schedule has been completed with Ajith sir, Lakshmi Menon and Shruti, which was shot at several places in the city. Some portions will be canned in Kolkata, where a part of the story takes place. We may go to an overseas locale for a song sequence, which is yet to be decided. I can assure that we are making every effort to bring the movie to the marquee this Diwali.”

Asked if the film is high on brother-sister sentiment, Rathnam laughs and says, “The film has a new genre, something beyond the brother-sister theme one usually sees. When I say commercial, it has action, romance, humor, sentiment and good music, to satisfy every type of audiences.” For the first time, Anirudh makes an appearance in the Ajith camp for music. Rathnam also quashed the rumour that he would be doing a sequel to his 1996 blockbuster Indian, which featured Kamal Haasan in a dual role and Shankar as the director.
