Sitaram Yechury slams Modi for straining relations with states

CPM leader said PM Modi failed to fulfil his promises given at the time of the election

Krishnagiri: CPM leader Sitaram Yechury, pointing to AAP leader Kejriwal’s struggle for the right to rule Delhi, said Centre-state relations being under strain is not good for the nation.Mr Yechury was here in Hosur of Krishnagiri district on Sunday to attend a public meeting to explain the present political situation after Mr Narendra Modi became PM. He said Mr Modi failed to fulfil his promises given at the time of the election and also has no good relationship with chief minsiters of non-BJP ruled states.

“The Centre-state relationship coming under strain is not good for the nation. Most of the issues, including Kejriwal’s right to rule Delhi, can be resolved through dialogue but Mr Modi shows no interest in settling the issue leading to the confrontation,” said Mr Yechury.“The chief ministers of eight northeastern states wait for Mr Modi's appointment to get development funds after the planning commission was dissolved.

But that their request was not accepted is another good example of Mr Modi not maintaining good relationship with states,” he said. He branded Mr Modi as playing the worst votebank politics by consolidating the Hindu community.
