AIADMK’s IT wing’s song and video go viral, reach 1.5 crore phones

Chennai: To celebrate the return of Ms J. Jayalalithaa as Chief Minister, the AIADMK’s IT wing has sent short voice messages with a 29-second song praising their leader and a 30 second video on WhatsApp to 1.5 crore cellphone subscribers in the state. The wing has selected ‘Amma The spirit of Tamil Nadu’ as the theme for the digital campaign.It has provided a minute to minute update on its Facebook and WhatsApp from the time the Chief Minister-elect left her Poes Garden residence and returned after the day’s events.

AIADMK started its IT wing 15 months ago to take the party’s achievements to youth and other tech savvy people through social media websites. Over three lakh persons registered themselves on the party’s website www.aiadmk.com to become party members.

“As digital media plays a big role in dissemination of information, we wanted to take the message of Amma to the masses. To help those who were not able to be part of today’s celebration we started the voice SMS and WhatsApp campaign. In future we will try more such innovations,” AIADMK’s IT wing secretary Aspire K. Swaminathan said.
