Amaravati gets lots of lung space

The heart of AP’s new capital Amaravati will have a ‘Brahmasthan’

Hyderabad: The heart of AP’s new capital Amaravati will have a ‘Brahmasthan’, an open space that will remain free from any construction. Deccan Chronicle has access to AP’s detailed master plan prepared by the Singapore government with the help of international consultants Surbana. The detailed master plan, showing the capital city spread over 219 sq. km., will be delivered to the AP government on May 25.

Brahmasthan’s significance is that it is from where vaastu directions are determined, making it an extremely important point from where energies are dispersed. A top official of Andhra Pradesh government said, “Brahmasthan will be like the central parks in world’s big gest metros like in New York. Not only vaastu complaint, it will be an open lung space where people can congregate.”

The detailed master plan also revealed a Tullur Township spread over 1194 hectares of land which will be a residential area near work places and will be constructed with the objective of promoting the concept of walk to work. According to the non-motorised transport strategy, prepared as part of world class infrastructure goal, a 35 km-long waterfront trail will be developed in the capital.

Pedestrian-friendly streets, special bikes lanes and bike-sharing will part of the strategy. Mass rapid transport system is the key factor with arterial roads, rural roads and highways passing through the capital city.
