KT Rama Rao calls on tech firm CEOs

He invited Mr Chambers to Hyderabad and urged him to expand operations

Hyderabad: Information technology minister K.T. Rama Rao, who is currently on a US tour, on Saturday met chiefs of Cisco Systems, Sun Microsystems and General Electric and sought their investments in Telangana State.

Mr Rao gave a detailed power-point presentation on TS governments new industrial approval policy (TS-iPASS) based on self certification and granting approvals within two weeks through single window online system and investment opportunities in TS.

Mr Rao met Cisco Systems chairman and CEO, John Chambers at the company's headquarters in San Jose, California. He invited Mr Chambers to Hyderabad and urged him to expand operations in the city.

Mr Rao later met General Electric CEO Jack Welch and sought investements in electric, power, aviation and transport sectors.

He later took part in the meeting convened by TiE (The Indus Entrepreneurs) in Santa Clara convention centre and addressed the gathering.

Mr Rao urged TiE to encourage start-ups in Telangana and explained about the T-Hub, the country's largest start-up incubation centre, coming up at IIIT-Gachibowli speard over 60,000 sq.feet.

Mr Rao later met Sun Microsystems co-founder Vinod Khosla and informed him about the various initiatives being taken up the Telangana government for the growth of IT sector. He sought Mr Khosla's assistance for the next-level growth of IT sector in Hyderabad.
