Stray dog bites off girl’s nose

Rajahmundry: A stray dog attacked a two-and-a-half-year old girl and bit her nose in two at Rajampeta village of Sitanagaram mandal in East Godavari. Though the incident took place on May 2, the incident came to light on Wednesday. The girl, identified as Bhanu Satya Ramya Sri, is the youngest and third daughter of farm labourer Pamarla Ganga Raju.
Mr Raju and his wife Aruna Kumari had handed over the child to their neighbours and were on their way to G. Medapadu village near Samalkota as Ms Kumari's father had expired.
When the girl was being fed in the neighbour's house in the presence of other children, a stray dog entered the house and caught hold of the girl and dragged her out. It was chased away and the girl was left bleeding with her nose being bitten in two pieces.
After visiting several hospitals, the girl was referred to the government hospital at Kakinada where doctors asked Mr Raju to find the missing piece of her nose. But it could not be found.
The doctors then informed Mr Raju, they would have to graft a piece of skin from the girl’s thigh to her nose, but it would take some time.
Government general hospital superintendent Venkata Budha said, “Plastic surgeons Dr Nagarjuna and Dr Mohan carried out the surgery on her nose and we have to do it again after some time to make it complete.”
