We want compensation but don't want Salman punished: Victim

Mumbai: A Mumbai Sessions court will give its verdict on whether the actor Salman Khan is guilty of running over pavement dwellers with his SUV 13 years ago. The trial in the case saw many twists and turns, can make or mar the career of the actor on whom ride investments of over Rs 200 crore.

Nurullah Mehboob Sharif was killed in the accident in which Kalim Mohammed Pathan, Munna Malai Khan, Abdullah Rauf Shaikh and Muslim Shaikh had been injured.

"We want compensation but don't want him (Salman Khan) punished. Even if he gets some punishment, it won't give back our 13 years," said Abdullah Shaikh, who lost his leg.

Shaikh, who was 22 at the time of the accident, said he is unable to work and cannot make a living due to the unfortunate accident. “I do not have any hopes but it is up to the court to decide,” he said.

If convicted, Salman could face upto 10 years in jail.
