Bengaluru: Rolling out his plan to launch a Swaraj movement, academician turned politician, Yogendra Yadav said the new movement would encompass local issues while focussing on nation building.
Mr Yadav who spoke to representatives of farmers, Dalits, women and AAP activists besides writers explained the philosophy of his movement. He said power is the key and one has to change the agenda using power. Politics is about fighting injustice, he said.
"The second issue is doing constructive work." According to Mr Yadav, this is not the exclusive privilege of a few people. Students and workers can get engaged in this activity.
Challenging the belief that the political class is bad, Mr Yadav said, "In the twentieth century, every new idea that arrived was from either thinkers or those of the political class."
He proposes to set up an organisation which does not suffer from the inadequacies of AAP. "Are we transparent and democratic? That should be our first agenda. We have already ensured this," he announced adding the Swaraj movement should have a federal structure.
Yogendra spills beans on fake degree of Delhi minister Tomar:
Mr Yogendra yadav revealed that the AAP leadership was aware of the fake degree controversy surrounding Delhi law minister, Jitendra Singh Tomar. "The issue was known to party circles for over two months. When the issue was raised and an inquiry was sought, it was not agreed to. If it had been allowed, this embarassment could have been avoided today," Mr Yadav said.
He cited this while highlighting the fate of AAP which lacked internal democracy. Mr Yadav stressed the need to look forward instead of going back to discuss the issue of his expulsion from AAP. "If there is democracy within, even you with a different voice can live. Every single democratic structure within the party was destroyed systematically," Mr Yadav said.
Earlier speaking to reporters, he said he had not received any official communication on his expulsion from AAP. "It is more than a week since the party said in a press release that Prashant Bhushanji, I, Anand Kumar and Ajit Jha have been expelled from the party. As of now, I have not received any communication," Mr Yadav said.
"There is no order. There was supposed to be a disciplinary committee to investigate our cases. They have not given any order, they have not spelt out any reason." Asked whether an attempt would be made to associate Anna Hazare with Swaraj Abhiyan, Yadav said,"We have repeatedly said that any democratic movement cannot be personality centered. This applies to Anna Hazare, Arvind Kejriwal and me as well."
