Kochi Metro website hacked, restored

Site has details of project, future plans

KOCHI: The official website of Kochi Metro Rail Limited (www.kochimetro.org), which was hacked on Wednesday reportedly by Pakistan hackers, was restored by afternoon.

The KMRL authorities had lodged a complaint with the cyber cell after the website hosted on a server of the Centre for Development of Imaging Technology (C-DIT) was hacked.

Since the website is a major tool of communication between the Metro agency and the public, efforts were taken to restore the site at the earliest.

The site has every detail of the project, future plans and other official announcements of KMRL.

In the morning, the visitors to the site could see only Pakistan-backed slogans like ‘Pakistan Zindabad,’ ‘just support my brother,’ besides the image of a person whose face was not visible.

The incident happened a day after the KMRL authorities announced that the Kochi Metro coaches would sport the aqua marine shade.

This is not the first time that Pakistani hackers have hacked the websites of important organisations in the state. Earlier, the KMRL website was hacked in 2013 after which anti-Israel messages were posted on it.
