MYSURU: Officers of Mysuru city police intensified their efforts to track down Prabudha Harsha Murthy, accused of raping the pregnant daughter of a retired IAS officer, and could nab him any moment.

Police said on Monday evening, one team rushed to a spot to arrest the accused after receiving a tip-off but returned empty-handed. Initially, two officers and men were assigned the task of tracking him down but two more officers and men have joined them now.

So far, neither the accused nor his parents, Mr C. B. Murthy and his wife Mrs Nalina Murthy, have given statements despite notices sent to their residence, and have been at large. Their statements are important and would form part of the evidence to be presented to the court, police sources said.

Police also found that the victim had conceived through IVF-ET technique in Manipal Hospital, Bengaluru, and was diagnosed with uterus fibroids as well and it was a case of high-risk pregnancy. The complainant has mentioned that the alleged rape occurred on November 11, 2014, but the doctor, treating her at family owned B M Hospital told the police that she did not notice any sort of injuries related to rape or any other injury during her visit for a check up on Nov 13, 2014, said police.
