Young Tollywood artiste dies in Nepal

25-year-old Vijay succumbed to his injuries after his car fell into a pit during fresh tremours

Junior artiste and actor Vijay, who was working in the film Yetakaram, which was being shot in Nepal, died in the aftermath of Saturday’s earthquake.

“Director Veerender Reddy said that they were retuning to India by road. When the tremors started again, the car in which Vijay was traveling fell into a pit,” says Kishan Kavadia, one of the producers of the film.

Vijay succumbed to his injuries in a hospital later. This was 25-year-old Vijay’s first film. “He was my brother’s son,” says Kishan, adding that he was from Bapatla, Guntur district.

The producers are now trying to get in touch with government officials to ensure the unit’s safe return. “Few people suffered minor injuries but the others are safe,” says Kishan.

Ironically, the unit was safe when the earthquake happened on Saturday, though the shooting location saw extensive damage. The accident took place while they were on their way back.
