Movie Artistes Association’s loss is Kannada Film Artiste Association’s gain

How MAA lost out on the opportunity to make Rs 6 crore in around seven years

The Telugu Movie Artistes Association missed out on a great chance when they turned down a proposal to send a Tollywood team to the Celebrity Cricket League (CCL) some seven years ago.

The CCL organisers had offered the Telugu Movie Artiste Association (MAA) Rs 1 crore and the only thing MAA had to do was send 11 players to represent Tollywood.

Though MAA discussed the offer with their panel members, they could not arrive at a consensus. The same offer was then made to the Kannada Film Artiste Association (KFAA) and they agreed. “Today, they have their own building in Bengaluru and they invited me for the inauguration on May 29,” says Vishnu Induri.

Thanks to the agreement, the CCL has paid KFAA Rs 50 lakh every year and now with Rs 3.5 crore, the Kannada Association has its own building without investing a single rupee. If MAA had acted wisely at that time, they would have made Rs 6 crore by now.

“MAA is concentrating more on internal politics rather looking after the development of its own people,” says a source.
