Civic works mess up Sindhi Colony

The road was so narrow that the ambulance couldn’t enter the premises

Hyderabad: Every lane in the upmarket Sindhi Colony, right from Wesley Degree College, has been dug up by government and private agencies, but not a single work has been touched in the last 10 days.

Local resident Meeta Karda said, “In January the GHMC dug the road claiming to fix pipeline issues; but they just worked for a week and there has been no progress since then. There is no space to pass and two cars can’t cross each other. And as the Metro project is going on, many roads are blocked…we are forced to take diversions.Even walking on the road has become next to impossible due to the number of people using the road.”

Residents also said that a senior colony member, who was ill, died as they could not reach the hospital on time. The road was so narrow that the ambulance couldn’t enter the premises and the patient had to be carried outside the building to the ambulance.

“This was very sad because we couldn’t even help him get to the hospital,” added a resident. The recent rains have worsened this issue thanks to the mud. And recently a man also fell into the pit dug by the GHMC.

The Water Board and a private agency have dug up the colony roads for repair works at present and the lane opposite Anand Theater (from the Hanuman temple) is the worst, say residents.
