Pharmacy courses get Tamil Nadu government approval

The government has directed the institute to obtain completion certificate for the college

Chennai: In a significant move that could benefit scores of students, the state government has permitted the starting of four-year Bachelor and two-year diploma courses in pharmacy in Erode.

While granting permission to Annai J.K.K. Sampoorani Ammal Charitable Trust, Namakkal district, to start four-year Bachelor course besides two-year diploma course in pharmacy in the J.K.K. Munirajah Institute of Health Sciences College of Pharmacy at Erode district, with an annual intake of 60 students for 2015 – 16, the government directed the institute to obtain recognition for the course/affiliation from the Pharmacy Council of India and TN Dr M.G.R. Medical University before admitting students.

The government has directed the institute to obtain completion certificate for the college and hostel of the proposed institute from the directorate of town and country planning before the students are admitted. Also, the management has been warned not to levy capitation fee or any other fund in the name of building fund, etc., from the students seeking admission in the private self-financing pharmacy college.

The students should be admitted as per the rules fixed by the government and tuition fees, including special fees, should be collected from the students at the same rates prescribed by the government. The management should give written undertaking that no capitation fee will be collected.
