Residential schools in all constituencies to be set up
Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao said the district collectors have a major role in the successful implementation of government initiatives and they should take the responsibility whole-heartedly to ensure that the government schemes reach the real beneficiaries.
Speaking at the two-day collectors’ conference, which ended on Saturday, Mr Rao asked the collectors to take steps to improve standards of state schools to such an extent that children of IAS/ IPS officers also take admissions. He said the government will set up residential schools in each Assembly constituency next year as part of implementing TRS government’s ‘KG to PG free education scheme.’
He asked to focus on introducing English medium in all schools without neglecting Telugu. Mr Rao asked the collectors to give Rs 50,000 marriage gift to SC/ ST/ minority girls under Kalyana Laxmi and Shaadi Mubarak schemes before marriage and select the beneficiaries. The CM asked collectors and SPs to visit welfare hostels, dalit colonies and hospital once in every month to know the problems faced by people.
He said collectors should take responsibility of maintaining government hospitals clean and green by conducting periodic reviews with departments concerned.
Mr Rao said the government is taking measures to implement poll promise of providing 2BHK houses for poor by interlinking the scheme with Centre’s ‘housing for all’ scheme. The responsibility of identifying beneficiaries will be given to collectors.
It was also decided to hold Godavari Pushkaralu in 67 locations in TS and to construct 107 bathing ghats by spending Rs 340 crore. It was also decided to hold first Telangana formation day anniversary celebrations on a grand scale from various villages to Hyderbad. Rs 20 crore was sanctioned to hold week-long celebrations.
