Telugu Desam to fast-track irrigation in Andhra Pradesh

Chandrababu Naidu vows not to rest till irrigation works complete

Andhra Pradesh: Underlining the importance of executing pending irrigation projects in an expeditious manner, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said on Sunday that he would sleep at the project sites if needed to ensure their completion.

“I appeal to people to come up with good ideas and share with the government to face such issues (of optimum usage of water resources, draught etc.). I call upon the farmers’ unions to come forward to take part in clearing and desilting drains under the Neeru-Chettu programme to help the tail-end get water and facilitate raising of crops. Let’s work together and I want your support and blessings to push our state to the number one position in the country. We want to establish Ram Rajyam and not Sri Krishna Rajyam,” he said here.

In an oblique reference to the Opposition YSR Congress, the Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu criticised the party for carrying out a misinformation campaign on the Pattiseema lift scheme through its Telugu daily.

Referring to the bifurcation of the state, which left the residuary state of Andhra Pradesh with a deficit budget of over Rs 15,000 crore, Mr Naidu claimed credit for Telangana’s surplus budget stating that it was possible because he had developed the infrastructure there during his earlier regime.

On the upcoming capital city, Mr Naidu said that the government had pooled 35,000 acres of land till date despite hurdles created by the YSR Congress.

Deputy Chief Minister N. Chinarajappa, minister for irrigation Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao, minister for endowments P. Manikyala Rao, minister for women and child welfare P. Sujatha, Narasapuram MP Gokaraju Gangaraju and other leaders were present on the occasion.
