Indian Drugs and Pharmaceuticals Limited will be revived, says Hansraj Gangaram Ahir

Government is planning to revive IDPL units of Hyderabad, Rishikesh and Gurgaon

Hyderabad: Indian Drugs and Pharmaceuticals Ltd (IDPL) would be revived with an investment of more than Rs 450 crore, minister of state for chemicals and fertilisers Hansraj Gangaram Ahir said on Friday. The government is planning to revive IDPL units of Hyderabad, Rishikesh and Gurgaon with an investment of Rs 900 crore.

IDPL Hyderabad has 84 buildings, each with an area of 70,000 sqft to one lakh sqft and the renovation of first one is in progress. The National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (Niper) would get a new campus, with an investment of Rs 300 crore.

The minister said that 75 acres of land has been secured in Genome Valley where a new campus for Niper would be built. A pharma park would be established with cooperation of the state government and the fertilizer plant of Ramagundam will also be revived. Fertilizer Corporation of India, National Fertilisers Ltd and Engineers India Ltd had recently formed a joint venture to set up a Rs 5,000 crore ammonia and urea plant, to be run on gas.
