Clear case of suicide: Forensic Science Laboratory

FSL experts analysed the scene of crime and gave the report based on the evidence found at the spot

Bengaluru: Forensic experts have submitted a report to the CID stating that IAS officer D.K. Ravi’s death is a clear case of suicide. Sources in the Forensic Science Laboratory said that the report was submitted to the CID officials, who were probing the mysterious death of the IAS officer. “The report was submitted to the investigating agency on Saturday. It is mentioned clearly in the report that Mr Ravi committed suicide by hanging. All the details related to the suicide have been given in the report along with evidence,” a source said.

FSL experts analysed the scene of crime and gave the report based on the evidence found at the spot. “There was not even a single point in the scene of crime for us to suspect that it could be a murder. There was no sign of struggle and it was not disturbed. Besides, there was no external injury on the body, except the ligature mark on the neck. Mr Ravi clothes, worn at the time of his death, were intact and would have been damaged if someone had a scuffle with him,” the source said.

“To substantiate our report that it is a suicide, we have attached 37 photographs of the spot and Mr Ravi’s body along with the report. We have approximated the time of death to be between 11.30 am and 12 noon,” the source said.

Rubbishing allegations that the police had let many people enter the scene and destroyed the evidence, the source said, “Only a few people, including Mr Ravi’s family members and some politicians, were present. The police were more cautious in maintaining the scene ‘as it is’ in this case compared to any other normal case.”
