Dry winds make city unusually warm

The max and min temperatures for Hyderabad on Monday would be 38ºC and 23ºC respectively

Hyderabad: Even though temperatures have not soared much beyond their normal levels, an unusually warm weather in the city is causing discomfort.

The maximum and minimum temperatures for Hyderabad on Monday would be around 38ºC and 23ºC respectively, which is just one degree above normal.

The recorded relative humidity on Sunday evening was just 26 per cent. The maximum and minimum temperatures in the city haven’t registered more than 1ºC deviation from the normal over the past week, officials from the meteorological department said.

“However, a dry wind is prevailing in the city as the humidity level has been very low since the past few days. The dry wind, when combined with the hot temperature, is making the weather warmer,” said K. Sitaram, the director of the India Meteorological Department in Hyderabad.

This low humidity phase is expected to continue for over a week longer, said the MET officials.

General physician at Apollo Dr H. Kishan said, “Dry heat is problematic because one tends to sweat a lot. Dry mouth, throat and eyes, body cramps, fatigue and dry skin are the commonest problems because of dehydration. The only solution is to increase the intake of fluids.”
