‘Sir, we no longer accept money’

Hyderabad: A police constable was praised by Telangana CM K. Chandrashekar Rao for his sense of duty on Sunday. The constable who was on passport verification duty had refused to accept a tip from an applicant. The matter was posted to the CM by the applicant himself who was his personal doctor.

Mr G. Narayan Rao, who is attached to the Special Branch, was on passport verification duty. On Saturday, he went to an applicant’s house on Jubilee Hills road number 10 for verification. After the verification was done from his side he was going down the stairs when he was called back by the applicant’s father. He offered him Rs 1,500 initially but the cop refused and walked away. The man added Rs 1,000 more and he politely refused.

Narayan Rao said, “Sir, we no longer accept money. The CM has increased our salaries and all our needs are being taken care of.” The stunned man immediately called the CM and told the incident.
