Hyderabad doctor held for raping 25-year-old woman in Delhi

A case has been registered on the basis of a complaint lodged by the victim

New Delhi: An All-India Institute of Medical Sciences doctor, who is a native of Hyderabad, was arrested on Friday for allegedly raping a 25-year-old woman from Sikkim, who was brought to Delhi on the pretext of providing her a job. Four other persons were also apprehended for immoral trafficking.

According to the police, a case has been registered on the basis of a complaint lodged by the victim.

“The victim was brought to the city a week ago by a 37-year-old woman identified as Suman. Suman had promised to get the victim a job in Delhi,” said the police, adding, “She was, however, forced into prostitution.”

The other three accused have been identified as Deepak alias Sagar, 40, Dharamveer, 32, and Kamal, 31.

Based on the victim’s complaint, raids were conducted in Sagarpur and Gautam Nagar. “We received a call from a cab driver at 5 am on Friday from Gautam Nagar. He said that a woman, who has been raped, is crying for help,” said the cops. “A PCR van reached the spot. The woman alleged that she was raped by a doctor, she identified as Mehr Tez,” the police added. She alleged that some known persons had left her to Dr Tez’s house for Rs 9,000.

Dr Tez, who is posted in the neuro department of the AIIMS, was picked up for questioning and was later arrested.
