Mangaluru: The glass enclosure containing the statue of Mother Mary and Jesus at St Joseph Vaz prayer hall at Panir near Ullal was damaged due to stone pelting by miscreants.
Police said the incident must have occurred on Tuesday night, but authorities found the glass cover damaged on Wednesday morning. The stone used to damage the enclosure too was found nearby.
Police officials said that they were considering all possibilities during investigation and CCTV footage too were being checked. Ullal Police have registered a case. Local MLA and minister U.T. Khader visited the spot. Mangaluru City Police Commissioner S Murugan said the incident could have been carried out by a mischief-monger, but it could not be established immediately whether a group of people were involved.
