Property tax notice issued to Hyderabad Cricket Association

The HCA had been a tax defaulter since 2009
Hyderabad: A property tax notice was slapped against Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) by the Industrial Area Local Authorities (IALA) and Greater Hyderabad Muni-cipal Corporation (GHMC).
The HCA had been a tax defaulter since 2009 and the dues have now touched Rs 12.66 crore. The IALA and the GHMC authorities on Saturday visited the Rajiv Gandhi international stadium at Uppal and informed the association that the tax dues should be cleared by Monday, failing which further action will be initiated.
Mr Raghu Prasad, zonal commissioner, East, GHMC explained, “The HCA is supposed to pay tax annually to the IALA of which 35 per cent is the GHMC’s share. Since 2009 the association has not been paying despite repeated notices. The association has not replied to any of the recent notices issued. They have been told to clear the dues by Monday.
The HCA is supposed to pay tax Rs 2 crore every year, with the overdue amount and interest on the tax adding up to '12.66 crore. The two bodies seized the movable properties like a Xerox machine, and the chairs of HCA president, vice-president and secretary. The Hyderabad Cricket Association authorities were unavailable for a comment.
