ADATA UC340: A high-speed USB 3.0 32GB flash drive

ADATA, a Taiwanese manufacturer known for storage and memory devices has a portfolio of products ranging from USB flash drives and memory cards to portable storage drives and even DRAM modules. Adding to their existing line of external storage lineup is the ADATA UC340, a 32GB USB 3.0 flash drive.

The UC340 is a simple high-speed USB 3.0 drive for everyday use. The flash drive is built using a cap-free design, with a retractable USB connector. Designed keeping the usual pen drive form-factor in mind, the case is built using a click-open design. The rear of the flash drive needs to be pushed in to expose the USB connector, leaving behind the fear of losing the cap, which usually is the case with many pen drives available out there.

The UC340 is neatly designed, albeit, the plastic case feels like it is built using inferior quality plastic, though it is not the case. The flash drive’s casing features a glossy diamond-textured surface, which may not appeal to all. The rear of the flash drive is built using a blue translucent plastic body with a neatly designed eyelet for looping in a lanyard or a key ring.

The UC340 is a 32GB high-speed flash drive which can be used for transferring data quickly. Provided you own a desktop or laptop with a USB 3.0 port, the device can transfer data at speed averaging around 200 MB/s. the data transfer speeds will vary with the type of data you transfer—large number of smaller files will take more time as compared to a single large file. Read speeds can average at almost 200 MB/s while write speeds can go up to 120 MB/s.

The ADATA UC340 can be carried on a neck strap, in your purse, or on a key chain, enabling you t transfer your precious data, be it audio, video or documents, in just a few moments. The UC340 flash drives are available in two colour variants—blue and red with black casing as common outer enclosure. The UC340 does not come with any software, but you can download the free utilities from the ADATA website. These utilities contain of UFDtoGO and OStoGO, which helps in synchronizing data easily and run a portable USB-based operating system, respectively.

The ADATA UC340 USB 3.0 flash drive measures 60.8 x 19.8 x 10mm in dimensions and weighs just 10g. The UC340 is available in 16GB, 32GB 64GB and 128GB storage variants and costs Rs 900, Rs 1,525, Rs 2,700 and Rs 14,000 respectively.
