Chandrasekhar Rao’s schemes get veteran handler

Mr Srihari has said his focus would be on inclusion and expansion

Hyderabad: The appointment of veteran Kadiam Srihari as Deputy CM with the education portfolio signifies the importance that Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao is giving the sector.

In a way the government is following the previous Congress government, which had elevated education minister Damodar Rajanarasimha as Deputy CM.

Mr Rao is keen to launch his pet schemes KG to PG free education and common schooling and has opted for an experienced leader: Mr Srihari has handled the portfolio in the Naidu Cabinet in undivided AP.

The government also needs an experienced hand to deal with the contentious FAST, which has been coming under fire not only from the Opposition but also the courts. Mr Srihari has said his focus would be on inclusion and expansion.
