Mumbai: It’s official! Priyanka Chopra will indeed play the lead in Prakash Jha’s next ‘Gangaajal 2’.
Countless reports suggested that the star would take on the role of a female cop in the film, however neither did the star nor the director confirm these reports. At a recent pre-award bash, Priyanka admitted that she would be playing Ajay’s counterpart in the upcoming action flick.
Speaking about her plans for the year ahead, Priyanka said, "This year I'm doing some very good films. I'm very excited about it. This year 'Dil Dhadakne Do' will release, which is a contemporary story of a dysfunctional family. Then 'Bajirao Mastani' will release in which I am playing an Indian Peshwa queen. Then I'm doing 'Gangaajal 2' and 'Madamji'. In Gangajal I'm playing cop - Ajay's female counterpart. So in one film I play a cop and in the other an item dancer. So it's a nice variation."
In an interview Jha was quoted as saying that the film will be about a female cop, who takes on some powerful and influential men in her district.
"'Gangaajal 2' is about today's dictum of society-police relationship. ‘Gangaajal’ was more from the heart. This one has all the bizarre things happening around us in reality. The film is not made on a big scale and also has very less characters. It is a concentrated story," Jha told PTI.
