CM K Chandrasekhar Rao asks officials to update Deputy CM T Rajaiah

The govt has decided to appoint a senior IAS officer to each district to monitor the swine flu eradication operations
Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Dr T. Rajaiah, who also holds the portfolio of medical and health was grilled by the Chief Minister about the escalating situation of the spread of H1N1 and also termed his statements to the media about swine flu deaths and cases as “most irresponsible and uncalled for”.
Mr Rao, however, defended the minister during his press conference saying that his statements were based only on the statistics provided by officials.
Dr Rajaiah, who had earlier faced the wrath of the CM in public for his “hasty statements” on setting up a new health university in his home district Warangal even before the government had taken a policy decision on that, once again came under fire from the CM for his “contradictory remarks” to the media on swine flu cases.
The CM reportedly expressed his ire at the minister and officials for making him too dependent on the media to know the actual situation of swine flu cases in the state. He asked them to update him regularly on the issue till the problem was completely resolved.
Mr Rao also spoke to the PM and Union health minister Jagat Prakash Nadda, seeking the Centre’s help to contain swine flu. The Centre has assured to send an expert medical team to Telangana State to assist the government in checking swine flu besides promising to supply 50,000 tablets, 10,000 bottles of syrup and medical testing equipment immediately.
The government has decided to appoint a senior IAS officer to each district by Wednesday to monitor the swine flu eradication operations. In GHMC limits, five IAS officers will be appointed for the purpose.
