As seen with the recent flagships from Samsung, the Galaxy S series have been powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets. Rumours have also stated that the upcoming Samsung flagship will sport the mammoth Snapdragon 810 chipset with around 4GB of RAM. However, a few unnamed sources seem to have told Bloomberg that the Samsung intends to drop the Snapdragon chipset for the Galaxy S6.
The report stated that Samsung has been testing the Snapdragon 810 chipset for a while now and found that the chipset has heating issues. This could be the main reason for ditching the Snapdragon chipset. Reports also stated that Samsung was planning to use their own chipsets, the Exynos SoC.
The rumour could be false, but if turned true, then we would not be seeing the Samsung Galaxy S6 in two variants anymore.
Samsung is gearing up to unveil the next flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S6, to the world. Within a few weeks, the world will get to know what powers the Galaxy S6. If the report comes true, this could be a blow to Qualcomm as Samsung sells its flagship Snapdragon-based smartphones like hot cakes.
