Andhra Pradesh action against earlier land deals

The sub-committee asked the officials to study the Acts followed by Karnataka

Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh government has decided to initiate action against all those officials who have violated rules in land allotments in the last 10 years. The government will regain the lands from the companies in case of violations. The Cabinet sub-committee on allotment of government lands to industrial units met on Monday under the chairmanship of deputy Chief Minister K.E. Krishnamurthy.

Finance minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, labour minister K. Atchennaidu and senior officials of 11 departments attended the meeting. They discussed the possibility of cancelling or modifying GOs issued by the former Congress government for allotment of lands and mortgaging of lands for borrowing funds. The sub-committee asked the officials to study the Acts followed by Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala on land allotments and submit a report. After studying the report, the government will decide whether to cancel the GOs or to make amendments to them. The previous Congress government had allotted lands in violation of several rules, without consulting the AP Land Management Authority and AP Industrial Infrastructure Corporation, said Mr Krishnamurthy.
